SM Development Corporation is aggressively expanding its salesforce

Logo of SM Development CorporationSM Development Corporation (or SMDC) is the residential development company of retail and property tycoon Henry Sy of the SM Group of Companies that is better known for its chain of malls nationwide.

SMDC started slow when it developed its first condominium project in 2003, the Chateau Elysee in Bicutan, Paranaque City. The project is composed of 24 residential buildings that are six to seven storeys tall. This was  followed in 2006 by Mezza Residences, a 38-storey four-tower condominium at the corner of Aurora Boulevard and Araneta Avenue adjacent to SM Sta. Mesa. (more…)

Importance of mapping the Philippines online

A few days ago, ABS-CBN News announced that a Filipino “citizen cartographer,” Wayne Dell Manuel, bested 700 other contestants to become the winner of the first Google Map Maker Global Competition.

The contest was launched

to help humanitarian organizations like UNICEF better deliver services, respond to crises, and adapt to change in the countries they operate by enabling access to accurate digital maps.

In fact, even before the contest started last December, Wayne’s mapping contributions helped rescue workers locate victims during September’s Typhoon Ondoy.

Famous tycoon buys into North Belton Communities

North Belton Communities is the first foray of Mr. Lucio Tan’s Eton Properties Philippines, Inc. into the middle-income market. Belton Communities, Inc. was spun off in 2008 to oversee its development.

Strategically-located along Quirino Highway in Novaliches, Quezon City with an elevation of 131 feet above sea level, this development and those in the immediate vicinity did not in any way suffer the havoc wrought by typhoon Ondoy. News that will impact on Philippine real estate

Old news: The government’s comprehensive and integrated mass transport and  infrastructure program is envisioned “to decongest the National Capital Region and to stimulate economic growth in the countryside especially in Bicol and Mindanao.” Progress has been slow.

Good news! On July 14, 2009 the government announced that:

Phase 1 of the rehabilitated Philippine National Railways was inaugurated. A commuter train, with the President and the VP on board, chugged along the stretch from Tutuban in Manila to Buendia in Makati City.
